The child has always existed throughout history and this is an undeniable fact. However, the fundamental issue lies in the fact that childhood, as a distinct stage, has been largely overlooked. The present research seeks to examine and analyze the reflection of the image and status of the child and childhood during the Qajar period within the context of Iranian-Islamic society. To achieve this goal, the study draws upon surviving documents from that era, particularly the travelogues of foreign visitors, and employs a descriptive-analytical method to investigate and analyze them. The findings of the research indicate that the Iranian-Islamic child during the Qajar period did not experience a distinct phase recognized as childhood. The findings encompass four main themes: health and hygiene, physical appearance and clothing, the end of the short childhood through early marriage and employment, and finally literacy education. Literacy education serves as a means to extend the duration of childhood. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the reduction of mortality rates on the one hand, and the provision of compulsory education on the other, could have served as a way to prolong the short childhood of Qajar children within the context of Iranian-Islamic society. After the Constitutional Revolution, the initial steps toward realizing such a goal became feasible.
