In the modern lifestyle, characterized by rising individualism and the superficiality of virtual communication, family dynamics face significant relational challenges. This study explores "affectionate dialogue and active listening" as a fundamental Islamic solution to these crises, elucidating its role in strengthening familial bonds through a synthesis of religious narrative teachings and contemporary psychological principles. Adopting an interdisciplinary, analytical-comparative framework, this research draws on authentic Hadith sources alongside established findings in family psychology—specifically John Gottman's communication theories and Carl Rogers' humanistic perspective—to conduct a cross-disciplinary analysis. The findings indicate that Islamic narrative teachings elevate "active listening" from a mere psychological skill to a "mutual verbal right and obligation." While psychological frameworks prioritize the technical and empathetic functions of listening, religious texts—through concepts such as Ḥaqq al-Sam' (the right to be heard), Qawl-e-Ma'rūf (kind speech), and Qawl-e-Layyen (gentle speech)—imbue communication with ontological and spiritual significance. This convergence suggests that effective dialogue is the product of integrating behavioral techniques (psychology) with ethical-spiritual intent (religion), with empathetic listening serving as a vital cornerstone in both systems of knowledge. The results of this research provide a theoretical foundation for a "Religious-Psychological Educational Model" designed to empower couples' communication. By synthesizing the ethical tenets of Islamic traditions with practical relational skills, this model can serve as an effective intervention in pre-marital counseling and family therapy clinics to reduce conflicts and foster resilience within the Iranian family structure.
