With the spread of the Arbaeen pilgrimage in Iraq, various analyzes of this macro social phenomenon have been presented. One of these analytical perspectives is paying attention to the role of this phenomenon in utopian horizons. In this article, using the conceptual-historical analysis method, we have explained the relationship between the city and the utopia in the eyes of Greek (Plato and Aristotle), Muslim (Farabi) and modern (Simmel) thinkers with the aim of showing that in Islamic theories about the relationship City and Utopia, pligrimage can be defined as a mediator between the customary and normal space of everyday urban life and the utopian space. In the Greek world, there was an unfillable gap between the city and the utopia. In the modern world, with the removal of Christian religious elements, the utopia became a secular utopia. But in Al-Farabi's madineh fazaleh with the centralization of the innocent Imam in the administration of Medina, the distance between the city and the utopian city is closed with the pilgrimage of the Imam and it is freed from duality. In the summary and conclusion, references have been made to the capacities of this perspective in the analysis of the Arbaeen pilgrimage and solving the problems of the Islamic world in the field of urban life.
